What is Healing?
Healing is the ongoing process of being aware of your body at all levels, assessing where there is imbalance, and working to make the changes needed to harmonize your body. Healing can occur in the mind, body, or spirit, and typically incorporates all three in the process of integrating imbalances within ourselves.
Healing is first acceptance. Whether it is a blister, a painful memory, or unprocessed anger, it is healing or acceptance that is needed. We do this by accepting the blister or memory as part of us. As we recognize and claim these aspects, we are then able to reframe our painful experiences and focus on resolution by examining the feelings and reasons behind experiences. We then begin to make the changes necessary in our actions, feelings, and thoughts. The very act of finding and examining our own inner disharmonies activates the possibility of self- healing.
Sometimes, a person may need someone to facilitate the healing process, but they still are the ones who choose to initiate the healing process. Regardless if you are working with a doctor, a dentist, a priest, a shaman, or what’s his name from the ‘Grand Order of the Poobah in purple flowing robes,’ you heal yourself.
By the very decision that you find an asymmetry or imbalance in your body and choose to do something about, you have begun the healing process. This may require shifts in eating, diet, energy, or lifestyle, and you may have to have someone facilitate this shift, but it is you that is making the conscious shift.
